Group Head Self-Cleaning Cycle

What it is
The group head is where the portafilter locks in for extraction. Breville's built-in cleaning cycle keeps it clear.
Function
Pressurized extraction point. The machine's auto-purge feature automatically releases water into the drip tray after steaming to maintain optimal temperature for the next shot.
Cleaning
  • Periodically flush with water: portafilter in place, no ground coffee
  • Run the automated cleaning cycle when the CLEAN/DESCALE light flashes: insert cleaning disc + tablet into filter basket, lock portafilter into group head, hold POWER + 1 CUP + 2 CUP for 3 seconds
  • The cleaning cycle runs automatically for approximately 5 minutes
The Barista Express fully assembled on the counter, ready for its next shot.
